Junior Girls 4 days - League

Join the Inaugural Making the Cut League

Dear Athlete,

We are excited to invite you to an exclusive journey of athletic development with our new League, designed for those considering trying out for the Junior High School teams in September 2024. This is not just another sports opportunity; it's a transformative experience focused on instilling values of punctuality, fairness, and teamwork.

Key Details:

  • Dates: August 12, 13, 14, and 15
  • Sessions:
    • One block: 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM
  • Format: Nine-player teams (six on the court, three substitutes) ensuring fair play and equal participation.
  • Games: Six 15-minute games per session, promoting versatility and adaptability with new starting positions and groups of athletes each game.
  • Venue: Saskatoon Soccer Center

Unique Features:

  • Coach Participation: Some of our Making the Cut Camp coaches will join you in the League, providing a unique chance to see how they approach gameplay and embody the volleyball mentality that made them successful. While they won't be coaching, their presence as experienced players will be invaluable in helping your team succeed.
  • "Royalty of the Court" Title: Earn points throughout the eight sessions (3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, no points for a loss). The Athlete with the most points will be crowned "royalty of the court."
  • Commitment to Responsibility: Missing a session means no points, and refunds are not provided, reinforcing personal responsibility and accountability.

Why Join? This League is crafted to replace informal pickup games with structured peer learning, guided by the principles of discovery learning. Unlike traditional coaching models, our League emphasizes experiential learning over direct instruction during games, fostering self-reliance, independence, and creativity. This innovative approach encourages players to actively shape their learning experience, leading to profound personal and athletic growth.

This is more than just a League; it's a groundbreaking venture into discovery learning, a pathway to building confidence, independence, and self-learning. It's also an opportunity to see some of the award-winning athletes we have as coaches at the Academy.

Join us on this transformative journey. For four days, you'll practice your skills with the coaches on the court, play the game you love, and embrace new challenges and opportunities for growth.

We had some extra gym time, so we thought you might want to play in this intense volleyball experience before your Making the Cut Camp.

We look forward to seeing you on the court!
