Intermediate Hitting Harder Session

You should not register for more than one attacking session in a day. (Two hours of attacking is too much.)

Athlete Level - Intermediate

Intermediate Level

  • Target Audience: Players typically grades 9-10 with "a bit more under their belt," often "club experience," or having "attended basic sessions before as a prerequisite or recommendation."
  • Suitability for Daughter or Son : Not recommended at this time if under 11 years of age.
    • Assumed Fundamentals: This level "assumes you've got a pretty solid handle on those fundamentals already." The focus "shifts...into like intermediate skill refinement gameplay strategy."
    • Risk of Overwhelm: If the athlete's attack "isn't quite where she wants it to be yet," jumping into intermediate "might feel a bit overwhelming, like she's trying to keep up rather than focusing on attacking." This is akin to "trying to run before you've really mastered walking steadily."
    • Frustration Risk: Placing her in a level where the overall skill assumed is too high when her goal is specific skill refinement could lead to "frustration," which "isn't great for learning or confidence."
A refund will not be issued if the session's start date is within 7 days of the cancellation.
Each player must bring a volleyball to attend the session; the academy will not supply volleyballs.
An introductory one-hour attacking session is designed for athletes in Grades 9-10 who are beginners with some volleyball experience. The session's focus is on building upon the Basic foundation by introducing essential skills, with attacking being one of the key areas.
Intermediate (Grades 9–10)
Athletes refine their hitting mechanics with an emphasis on speed, explosiveness, and control. Training includes increasing jump height, using hip and shoulder rotation for added power, and developing the ability to hit harder from different positions on the court. Players will also work on maintaining accuracy and shot selection while generating more force. The focus is on consistently delivering attacks that challenge defenses while minimizing errors.
These sessions aim to provide a quality experience by ensuring athletes register for the appropriate level, as choosing a tier that is too high can impede progress for the athlete and their peers.
